Magi Nams

I grew up on a farm in Alberta, Canada. Inspired by the world around me, I pursued university studies in zoology and plant ecology and rounded out the book learning with hands-on experience digging for fossils, live-trapping mice and skunks, describing forests, and measuring high arctic plant communities. Eventually, I realized that my heart yearned for writing more than science, so I compromised by using my scientific training to research dozens of articles I wrote for Ranger Rick, a children's nature magazine with a global audience. I'm also the author of the travel adventure series, Cry of the Kiwi: A Family's New Zealand Adventure, and the nature memoir/personal journey, Seasons on Matheson Brook: A Journey to Self Through Exploring Nature.

I'm passionate about nature and love to travel in search of new wildlife and landscapes. When not out adventuring, I can be found happily writing, gardening, birding, and photographing nature at the rural home I share with my husband in Nova Scotia, Canada.
