Nina Miller

When I retired after more than a dozen years as Executive Director of Hospicare in Ithaca, NY, I returned to writing fiction. I published twenty short stories in literary reviews and anthologies, as well as a non-fiction book on crisis intervention during a prolonged sabbatic between jobs at the Suicide Prevention Center, Planned Parenthood and the hospice. The Mother of Invention is my first novel.

My husband, a clinical psychologist, died several years ago. We have three grown children and three granddaughters. I live with a dog names Poochini, and he and I are are deeply opposed to fracking, the political pivot of the novel. As a "woman of a certain age," I have lived through major transitions in women's lives and fought for the changes that are now in peril; these, too, appear as themes in the novel.
