George E. Thompson

George E. Thompson served as a United Methodist pastor/theologian for thirty-five years. Formerly he was a Trustee Chair for Pfeiffer University and the Charlotte District Superintendent. He currently works with the poor (Circles of Hope), children (teaches elementary Sunday school), and is a peacemaker (planner for the annual Lake Junaluska Peace Conference). He is married to his high school sweetheart, celebrating a 50th Anniversary in 2015. He was a contributing editor for Pulpit Digest but is primarily known by his eleven year old grandson as ‘Papa.’ He believes that the parish is the laboratory for doing Christian theology—a matter too important to be left entirely to academic theologians. He regards parish ministry as the most joyous and agonizing, creative and perfunctory, fulfilling and perplexing of all vocations. God Is Not Fair, Thank God! is the articulation of a grateful servant in God’s amazing vineyard of paradox and surprise.
