Susan Slack

Susan J Slack is a Buffalo NY native, proud mom, professional teaching and performing artist and writer. She sings, drums, dances and acts having studied with brilliant, inspiring artists from around the world. As the owner of the Open Circle Players, a touring children's theatre group, she unearthed almost forgotten folktales and brought them to life on stage. This allowed the opportunity for students and families to experience other world views. Finding just the right stories required reading all of Grimm, all 1001 Arabian Nights, every Native North and South American tale in print, countless Asian and African stories. Susan also studied world religions with many teachers, read sacred texts, sweat in many lodges and sat on many meditation cushions. She is also inspired by the work of Joseph Campbell (you know - the Prof. who coached George Lucas for Star Wars)

Now happily settled in Sarasota Florida, the quiet crystal beaches allow time to finally write the stories that have been nagging for so many years. Susan loves to research and create stories based on history - our best political teacher.

"Hidden From the Face of Humans" looks at the final decline of both the the Egyptian and Persian empires through personal lenses of people living in those times. What happened to the greatest civilizations in the western world?

Susan's newest book, "CLOUDY, Coming of age in a 1920s World of Jazz, Circus and Revolution" also looks at the step by step turmoil created by those who think they deserve to make decisions for everyone else.
