Information literacy empowers learners by exposing them to a skill set essential in learning how to master the information universe within today's digital society. Knowing how to find, evaluate, and use information effectively throughout one's lifetime is pivotal to achieving any type of academic, personal, or professional success.

Lana is currently the principal of Mélange Information Services, a college and career readiness management consultant firm based in Cambridge, MA. She has held a variety of administrative and adjunct faculty positions within higher education, advising and teaching a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate students, from traditional age to adult learners.

In her consultant capacity, Lana has also worked with a variety of non-profit organizations, providing workforce development and management training services.

As president of the National Forum on Information Literacy, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the development of information literacy policy and programs supportive of advancing economic and educational opportunity for historically underserved populations in the U.S. and abroad.

Written in collaboration with her son, Philip S. Jackman, the College Success Diet: An Insider's Guide to College and Career Success is the flagship eBook guide in their Mélange sponsored college and career readiness eBooks series.

This series emphasizes choices, options, and opportunities learners need to know in order to navigate successfully the unfamiliar language as well as culture of college and university environments.
