Danielle J. Small

Danielle J. Small is a children’s book author, minister, and educator living in the New York City area. By day, she works for the New York City Department of Education as a teacher and with Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) as a theater teaching artist.

Prior to this, Danielle worked as a crisis intervention worker & therapist for children and their families residing in Wilkes Barre, PA. With over 15 years of progressive teaching background, Danielle devotes her time to supporting and developing young people.

In 2005, Danielle founded Starring U Kid, LLC, a children’s theatre company whose primary goal is to bring fun and innovation to learning and development. Three years later, She was ordained a minister and actively mentors Christian youth and young adults in the church.

In 2011, Her first book, Cow Won’t Bow was performed numerous times as a short play in Wilkes Barre, PA by Starring U Kid performers. It was also performed twice by students in the New York City School system in 2015. On June 3, 2015, Cow Won't Bow will be performed on the NYU Skirball Theatre's stage for the third time by her SASF students.
