Robert Edgar

Robert is an author and academic. He is Professor of Writing and Popular Culture in the York Centre for Writing at York St John University, teaching predominantly in Creative Writing. He has also taught Literature, American Studies, Media and Film and Television Production.

Robert has published widely on Screenwriting, Directing Fiction, The Language of Film, American Cinema, Science Fiction, Folk Horror, Hauntology and television, creative non-fiction, music venues, music and material culture and music memoir. He is co-convener of the Music Memory and Narrative Research Group and the Hauntology and Spectrality Research Group. Robert also writes short fiction and his middle-grade novel, The Wandspringer, was published in 2025.
