Mr. John Thomas Eubank III

John Eubank grew up in Houston, Texas, where he attended Rice University. After years of writing screenplays and television scripts, he realized he'd been treating his children like the proverbial shoemaker (who made his own kids go barefoot). Drawing upon them for inspiration, John wrote the young adult novels Steemjammer Through the Verltgaat and Steemjammer the Deeper Truth in the family's favorite genre, steampunk.

John is an avid participant in the Maker Movement and is mainly a primitive maker, enchanted by amazing things that can be created from sticks, stones, old cans and so on - like incredibly efficient stoves (rocket stoves) that can boil a pot of water only burning a handful of sticks. He also likes fermenting pickles, making vinegar, baking, and making mead. Steam boilers are dangerous, and all he'll say about them is that one gallon of water under pressure is roughly like a stick of dynamite (best not to fool with boilers)! With that said, he says people can look up pop pop boats if they want a somewhat safe experience making a tiny but real steam engine out of copper tubing or soda cans (adult supervision is recommended). John, his wife, Ingrid, and their children have volunteered in various Maker fairs and conventions in Southern California over the past few years. Maker elements are a big part of the Steemjammer series, as are adventure and suspense!
