Richard Joyce has long been interested in the British Military, although he has never served. After collecting signed military books, this inspired him to fully research and write his own book. He has supported military charities for nearly a decade and continues to donate to charities from all books.
His first book, Operation Blue Halo, represents the courage and sacrifice of those who served. In the blistering heat of Afghanistan, Johnny Vince battles to survive after a mission to eradicate a new breed of terrorists, L-khaba-a, goes wrong. Fleeing from the scene of a disaster, he becomes separated from his squad, not knowing if any have survived.
He must use all his strength and Special Forces training just to stay alive and evade the fury of terrorists and crazed factions. Emotions, morals, and his survival skills are tested as the hunters close in. But it’s only when he makes it to safety that he realises just how badly he has been betrayed. A line has been crossed; good men have fallen, and the enemy must be punished.
After the success of his first novel, Richard Joyce has published a second in the series, Operation Last Assault, featuring that novel's hero, Johnny Vince, now retired from UK Special Forces. However, retirement is the last thing Johnny wants. He accepts a contract as a mercenary. Filled with trouble from the outset, it turns into a race against time to rescue a wealthy American, Larry Schultz, from captivity by Somali pirates. It soon becomes apparent that other groups are also interested in Schultz, making it hard for Johnny to know who to trust, especially when he learns that his brother, Oliver, is being held in ransom for Schultz.
Operation Poppy Pride is reaching the fans’ expectations. The mission: to track and locate the Sumatra tiger poachers’ stronghold; relatively easy for an ex-Special Forces soldier, or so his boss said. With a truly strange turn of events, Johnny is emerged into a world that not even the complex himself can fathom. Even with Johnny’s Elite skills, can he take this young, new squad into the hornets’ nest with little weaponry? You want action, adventure, and emotions—is the edge of your seat ready?
The fourth in the series, Operation Edge is now available. Ex-Special Forces solider Johnny Vince has won many battles, mentally and physically on and off the battlefield. But now, haunted and suppressed by the demons of the past, the 'black dogs' have found their victim: Johnny Vince. Not able to escape his PTSD, alcohol abuse, violence, self-harm, and detaching from society, he has ended up on the edge of life. Volatile at his lowest point, a light at the end of the tunnel is presented. With the emotional mission to save a friend in a similar circumstance, a few of the old crew decide to help him. But why? With Johnny's emotional sensory overload, who can he trust? Is Johnny the 'rogue' that many want bagged. With an extremely painful outcome, Johnny has to re-set, literally to the beginning. The plan is set. But, knowing trouble follows Johnny...
