Robert Oliver Bernhagen

Like millions worldwide, Rob is an unabashed fan of Louis L'Amour. Grasshopper Flats came into being after reading over a hundred of his novels. Additional inspiration came from reading Larry McMurtry, (Lonesome Dove) and James Michener, (Texas). Rob's characters and plots are original but the times and places will feel like home to Western fans.

Doodlebug Ranch was written in response to the many readers of Grasshopper Flats who wished to know more of the adventures of James Monroe Henry.

Rob is a lifelong Country/Rock musician who now resides in Sedona, Az. Since West Sedona was once known as Grasshopper Flats, it is the perfect setting for his novels and his home is located in what was once part of the Doodlebug Ranch.

Rob was raised in Madison, Wisconsin and was the leader of a well known rock group called "Robin and the Three Hoods" during the late '60′s. He lived in Southern California prior to relocating to Arizona.

In addition to writing, performing and recording his music, Rob's interests include his 1959 T-Byrd, hiking the red rocks and collecting guitars and firearms.

THE SONS OF SLAYTON is Rob's latest novel. (Publish date of 4/7/15) It chronicles the lives and times of the Slayton family from 1750 England to 1870 Kansas.
