Christopher Davies

Christopher Davies is a primary school teacher from Kenilworth, Warwickshire. He studied Environmental Biology at Coventry University and has always had a keen interest in the natural world and conservation issues. After graduating he worked for a short spell with the 'Coventry Countryside Project' and he then trained as a primary teacher at the University of London. Chris has had an interesting and rewarding career as a class teacher and then as a Deputy head, in a range of primary schools.

When not teaching and writing Chris loves playing and watching sport, particularly football and golf. Chris also enjoys travelling with his family and recent highlights include body boarding in Cornwall and skiing in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Chris has written several plays and pantomimes for school productions over the years, but his first book, 'In a Spin' was published in 2015 and received very positive reviews.

Chris tries to write about real issues concerning children of primary age, whether it be moving house, friendship, sibling rivalry or the disappointment of losing a competition. His second book, 'Prickly-Pong Island and the Emerald Treasure' has a strong conservation theme running through it and would be an ideal read for children interested in (or working on) conservation projects such as the rain forest. Chris also tries to make his books as lively as possible and builds in lots of ‘cliff-hangers’ to encourage the readers to keep reading!

In November 2017, Chris published his third book entitled, 'Times Table Time and Rhyme'. The book is full of catchy rhymes to help children learn their times tables and has proved very popular with children, parents and teachers. Having worked in schools most of his life, Chris is aware of how important learning your times tables is for every child and believes his book will help make learning them more FUN!

Following the success of this book, Chris has published 2 more titles in the 'Times Table Time and Rhyme' series, 'Terrifying Times Tables' (May 2019) and 'Fabulous Football Times Tables' (Oct 2019). Both new titles have received very positive reviews and are being used by children across the UK (and the US and Europe) to help them learn their times tables and have fun at the same time!

Chris has made several school visits in the Warwickshire area in the past few years and has enjoyed talking with children about his books and running workshops. These include interactive drama activities, writing activities and question and answer sessions about being an author and the writing process. He is available for school bookings, where he is happy to talk to the children in assembly or run a writing workshop in class. (If interested please email, chris.davies973@ntlworld.com)
