Rock DePerno

I was born in the projects on the lower east side of Detroit.

As a young boy, winters would find me searching for anything I could get my hands on to read. We didn't get a T.V. until I was 12 years old, consequently, I never missed the monthly visit of the bookmobile that came to my neighborhood.

My heroes were not T.V. or movie stars but Jack London, James Kjelgaard, Charles Dickens, James Fenimore Cooper and Mark Twain.

I worked in the auto plants, Hamtramck, Highland Park and many other smaller automotive related companies all my life but my hobby was always reading and writing.

Education was a strange journey for me. I went to three colleges and two universities, changed my major more time than I care to remember and instead of stopping at the 124 credit hours needed for graduation I ended with 184 credits.

I graduated with a degree in Financial Management and Economics with extra studies in Philosophy and Psychology. But before college my education was on the street and those are the experiences that are reflected in my books.
