Dan L. Hollifield has been the Senior Editor and Publisher of Aphelion Webzine since 1997. He was the Assistant Editor of Dragon's Lair Webzine from 1995-'96. His Mare Inebrium spaceport bar series has appeared in both e-zines. In Aphelion, it became a shared universe and has featured 37 writers and nearly a hundred stories. His "Tales From The Mare Inebrium" short story collection, originally published by Dark Oak Press and now re-issued by Three Ravens Publishing, features all his original online Mare Inebrium stories, as well as brand new stories written expressly for this book. Upon its release, "Tales From The Mare Inebrium" was nominated for the JW Campbell award in 2015.
Aphelion Webzine functions as a "permanent floating writers workshop" in order to present new amateur writers' works to the public, to hone their skills towards becoming new-fledged professional writers, and provides the best of amateur SF&F stories to its readers. Over 500 new writers have begun to sell their works to pro publishers since appearing in Aphelion over the past three decades.
Dan lives near Athens, GA. He attends the conventions LibertyCon and Hallowcon, and was Literary Track Director for the final two years of AnachroCon in Atlanta. It is a mix or orchestral and rock styles, all instrumental, all composed inside his computer. On the Bandcamp website, he has nine albums out at this time. He also has oil paintings on display in various venues.
