Isabel del Rio

Isabel del Rio is a British-Spanish writer and linguist. She writes fiction and poetry mostly in English, but she has also published books in Spanish. Born in Madrid, she has lived in London most of her life.

Her books include the short story collection 'La duda' (Tusquets Editores), shortlisted for two literary awards in Spain; and 'Zero Negative-Cero negativo' (Araña Editorial), a bilingual book on the subject of bloodshed. Other fiction: 'Paradise & Hell', 'Dissent' and 'Una muerte incidental'; and her poetry includes: 'Ataraxy’, ‘Madrid, Madrid, Madrid’ and 'Cuaderno de notas'.

Her most recent literary translation (into English) is “Voces equidistantes” (Equidistancias), an anthology of Latin American poets currently living in the UK.

She has a five-year degree from Universidad Complutense (UCM) in Madrid and a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of West London (UWL).
