Stephany Hughes PhD

Stephany Hughes raised three children while enjoying a 24-year teaching career focused on the development of academically talented students. She graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, then pursued two graduate degrees at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She is co-founder of the Poetry Cafe' in Excelsior Springs, Missouri whose purpose is to appreciate and cultivate written and spoken poetry by children and adults. The Poetry Cafe' conducts a poetry workshop, a poetry contest, and poetry readings the last Saturday of April, all while celebrating Gatsby Days in the charming, historical downtown of Excelsior Springs.
