Michael Tefft writes steampunk adventures filled with airships, strange machinery, mystery, romance, and reluctant heroes who often find themselves in far more trouble than they expected.
A software engineer by profession, Michael has always been fascinated by the way things work—whether that means a computer program, a piece of Victorian technology, or the complicated motivations of a fictional character. His technical background helps him create imaginative worlds that feel detailed and believable without losing sight of the people at the heart of the story.
Michael is also a trumpet player who performs with several community bands and a big band. Music, classic science fiction, British history, and a lifelong love of adventure stories all find their way into his writing.
He is the author of the Reluctant Steampunk series, which follows engineer and adventurer Malcolm Robertson through secret missions, impossible machines, dangerous conspiracies, and journeys far beyond the world he knows.
Michael lives in Upstate New York with his wife and their two cats. When he is not writing or working with computers, he can usually be found playing trumpet, researching some obscure historical detail, or wondering what new disaster Malcolm should face next.
