Liz Prato

Liz Prato is the author of the acclaimed new novel PURGATOIRE (Forest Avenue Press, April 2026), which Powell's Books named its Pick for Portland for 2026. She also authored the essay collections VOLCANOES, PALM TREES, AND PRIVILEGE: ESSAYS ON HAWAI‘I (Overcup Press), a New York Times Top Summer Read and a finalist for the Oregon Book Award, and KIDS IN AMERICA: A GEN X RECKONING (SFWP), as well as the short story collection BABY’S ON FIRE (Press 53). An editor and teacher, Liz lives for independent bookstores, literary community, and palm trees.
