Phillip Carter

Phillip M. Carter (PhD - Duke University) is a sociolinguist and scholar of language and culture focusing primarily on U.S. Latina/o communities. His scholarship is interdisciplinary and combines approaches from linguistics, anthropology, and psychology. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as Journal of Sociolinguistics, English World Wide, Language in Society, Language & Linguistics Compass, among others. Carter is regularly called as an expert linguist and has appeared on CNN en español, Inside Edition and other television programs, and has been interviewed by The New York Times, BBC-Mundo, The Miami Herald, Caracol Radio Colombia, and many other radio and newspaper outlets.
