Rory McEntee

Dr. Rory D. McEntee has a PhD in Theological and Philosophical Studies in Religion from Drew University, and an M.A. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Southern California. Rory has taught philosophy, world religions, contemporary spiritualities, mathematics, and theology at the university level, and previously taught math and physics and was a vice principal in secondary education. Currently, Rory serves as President and Executive Director of the Charis Foundation for New Monasticism & Interspirituality, and lives in New Mexico, where he teaches contemplative retreats and continues to write. Rory is the author of "The Sacred/Secular Binary: Challenging the Divide in University Culture and Democratic Societies" and "The New Monasticism: An Interspiritual Manifesto for Contemplative Living." Rory was also was the administrator for Fr. Thomas Keating's "Snowmass Interspiritual Dialogue Conferences," which brought together spiritual teachers from different traditions for intimate dialogue retreats at his monastery, and a close friend and student of Brother Wayne Teasdale, who coined the word "interspiritual." Rory has participated in interspiritual dialogues around the world, including with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Pope Francis. On any given day, you might catch him in prayer and meditation, teaching, playing basketball, or trekking in the Himalayas.
