Clifford Slapper is a pianist who has worked with David Bowie, Boy George, Marc Almond, Holly Johnson, Suggs, Billie Ray Martin, Lisa Stansfield, Jarvis Cocker, Angie Brown, Stereo MCs & many others. He played the piano as Dudley Moore in a BBC recreation of the sketches of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, presented by Jonathan Ross, and played the piano part for David Bowie's appearance on Ricky Gervais' "Extras" TV show. His new book about fellow pianist, Mike Garson, is the first ever biography of Bowie's longest and most frequent collaborator: between 1972 and 2006, Garson played on 19 Bowie albums and toured the world with him several times. Garson is also a master of improvisation and of jazz, and has composed thousands of classical pieces. The book tells his extraordinary story in a way which will be gripping not just for Bowie fans but for all those interested in the history of modern music.
