Janae Sholtz

Dr. Janae Sholtz is Professor of Philosophy, Director of General Education, and Coordinator of Women’s and Gender Studies at Alvernia University, PA. She is Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg and Extraordinary Professor in the Centre for Identity and Diversity at North-West University in South Africa. Dr. Sholtz has bee awarded both the Junior and Senior Neag Scholar Award for excellence in teaching and research and published at Alvernia University. She is the author of The Invention of a People, Heidegger and Deleuze on Art and the Political (Edinburgh UP 2015), co-editor of Deleuze and the Schizoanalysis of Feminism and French and Italian Stoicisms: From Sartre to Agamben, co-editor of French and Italian Stoicisms: From Sartre to Agamben (Bloomsbury UP 2020) and co-editor of Deleuze and Cosmology (Edinburgh UP 2026). She researches primarily in Twentieth Century and Contemporary Continental Philosophy, aesthetics, and feminist theory. Her current research is focused on the work of Deleuze and Guattari and their feminist interlocutors, and includes subjects such as new materialism, transgression, immanence, affect, the cosmic, and the conjunction of the aesthetic and the political.
