JM Smith began her love affair with the Phantom of the Opera over 27 years ago, when the musical first arrived on Broadway. The dark, mysterious Erik has stayed with her ever since, always prompting her to ask the question "What if?" Her writings are an attempt to answer that question.

She lives with her husband and 2 children, and, when not writing, teaches music to elementary school students.
