Clara Challoner Walker

From 2006 onwards, Clara Challoner Walker has published several short stories and poems, both on-line and in journals in the United Kingdom and United States.

In late 2013, following an extensive period of travel throughout the Middle East and Africa, Clara stepped back from her job in IBM and the corporate world in general to concentrate full time on writing her first novel. A Tapestry of Vice and Virtue is a fast paced, frequently humorous, thriller which follows the lifelong friendship between two Yorkshire-women, Shylah and Gabriel.

The novel is fictional but informed by events which Clara experienced first hand while working overseas. Several controversial issues are confronted within the narrative, including misogyny, racial inequality, forbidden homosexuality in Saudi and, at the novel's climax, a shocking miscarriage of justice. Gabriel and Shylah strive to bring the perpetrators of injustice to account, encountering passionate romance, political divisiveness and ultimately the horrific consequences of religious extremism, in their wake.

Having returned from abroad, Clara now shares her time between Yorkshire in the United Kingdom and The Charente in France. She loves knitting and has four cats.
