Mary Eatmon

Mary Eatmon was born in March of 1931 in Green County, Alabama. Growing up in Boligee City, Mary had hopes of becoming a woman of influence. As the oldest of four children, she was a natural at taking on leadership roles and proudly helped wherever she saw that her talents were needed.

At the tender age of 15, little did she suspect that her act of kindness would change her life forever after a young man followed her into her home and attacked her: leaving her with a hard choice to make. In order to protect her family, she felt obligated to marry her assailant and spent the following 30 years living through a dysfunctional marriage, doing her best to maintain her integrity. Throughout that time she raised eight children to adulthood and now has over 46 grandchildren.

Mary spent 20 years working for the Detroit Department of Transportation and retired from there at the age of 63. Four years later, she completed her bachelor’s Degree in Christian counseling and Biblical studies. Now, she’s a licensed minister, maintaining five weekly ministries.

Over the years, Mary has traveled the world. She’s visited exotic lands such as Egypt, Greece, Paris, Germany, London, and several unique islands. After her travels, Mary’s stories of adventure could inspire even those who never left their home town to want to pack up and journey to Holland’s tulip festival or Frankenmuth. Even with all the traveling she’s done, Mary has found that there’s just no place quite like Michigan.

Mary’s children have watched her approach to life and have been inspired to love the things that are before them, no matter what those things are. When she’s not spending time with family or ministering to the public, Mary enjoys square dancing, as she has for over 30 years.
