Thomas S Stephens

After a successful 30 year career as a banker and entrepreneur, Tom Stephens and his wife Lou retired and moved to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in 2005. They expected to live out their lives travelling and living the life of expats. Unfortunately, in 2011, Lou was diagnosed with cancer, which she valiantly fought for 13 months. After her death, Tom needed a resource to assist him with the closing out of a life, but, not finding one, did hundreds of hours of research and, going step by step, closed accounts, dealt with insurance companies and lawyers, tax advisors and financial consultants. He chronicled their 13 month struggle with Cancer in “Love You More: A Caregiver’s Memoir”, and he kept detailed notes of all of his work, which he turned into five books: “Survivor’s Handbook: Essential Guide to Financial Matters after a Death”; “Planning for Tomorrow: Essential Guide to Having Your Affairs in Order”; "Our Aging Parents: A Comprehensive Guide to Caring for Aging Loved Ones"; "The Cost of Aging: Finding Resources to Meet the Financial Cost of Aging"; and "Retirement Journey Guide: Retirement is a Journey Not a Goal". Tom has returned to work as a Financial Advisor in Houston with Innovative Premier Financial Services and Next Financial Group, Inc. He gives talks and workshops on the topics in his books.
