Kathy Engebretsen

Kathy Engebretsen is a member of G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Raised in the South). She grew up in a small town in middle Tennessee. Growing up there, she enjoyed river canoe trips, water skiing, hiking and camping in the woods, and time spent at the family cabin on Lake Ocoee. Her college years took her to a change of scenery, where she experienced more adventures in the western states. After marrying her husband, his career took them to central Kansas, where they spent sixteen years raising their family of five children. In 1996, another move brought the family to southern Utah, where Kathy currently resides.

Besides teaching Biology at Dixie State University, in St. George, Utah, Kathy continues to write, does ongoing family history research, travels, and does historical research for her future books. She loves reading historical fiction, as well as mysteries. Some of her favorite authors include: Charles Frazier, Dick Francis, Diana Gabaldon, Janet Evanovich, and Sue Grafton.
