Heather is Assistant Professor in the School of Public, Nonprofit, and Health Administration at Grand Valley State University. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Nonprofit Financial Management, Fundraising, Human Resources, Nonprofit Technology, and Voluntarism and the Nonprofit Sector. Heather has published articles in the Journal of Public Affairs Education, Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership, and the Journal of Public Personnel Management. She is co-author with Tera Qualls of the new book The Talent Development Platform: Putting People First in Social Change Organizations.
Prior to joining the faculty at GVSU, Heather served as a research associate in the Caster Family Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic Research at the University of San Diego and Operations Manager for several nonprofit organizations in California and Illinois. She received her PhD in Leadership Studies with a Specialization in Nonprofit/Philanthropic Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego. She has a Masters of Management in Nonprofit Administration from North Park University in Chicago, Illinois and Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University.
