Janice Doppler

Janice Doppler has been interested in body, mind, and spirit for as long as she can remember. Her interest initially took the form of playing field hockey and lacrosse in high school and college. After graduating, playing shifted to teaching health, physical education, and biology for sixteen years. She also served in two school districts as a Health Education Coordinator for twelve years. She explored multiple forms of spirituality – Christianity as a youth and Hinduism, New Age, earth-based, and others as an adult.

Her discovery of tai chi chuan and qigong in 1998 felt like coming home. It marked the beginning of spiral after spiral of learning to integrate body, mind, and spirit. She learned tai chi and Eight Pieces of Brocade qigong from her first teacher. Her second teacher added Reiki, a type of Japanese energy work, to the mix. After seven years of learning from these American teachers, she became a student of Lijun Cheng – a sixth generation lineage holder of Yang style tai chi chuan and qigong master.

Healing Bodies, Healing Hearts with Qigong and Tai Chi Chuan is Janice’s first book. Previously, she was the ghost writer for Lijun Cheng’s My Lotus Grown Out of Mud published in The Power of Grieving – A Stronger You by Maryjane Boggins-Atkins. She has also published articles in The Freedom Writer and The Fourth R.
