Charlie O'Brien

Charlie O'Brien is a freelance author. He wrote For you, Eileen, and Ghost Story. Hailing from Vancouver Island, he loves to travel around Canada, and has lived in nearly every province and territory. An avid reader, knitter, and beginner guitar player,he is working on his new novel, "Honk for Canada", which will be published in the near future.

Charlie's newest book, "Honk for Canada", is about a family of seven who purchase an ancient school bus from the 1970's, and convert it into an RV. The family is determined to have the best family road trip ever, but things soon fall apart. It's filled with angsty teens, middle-class poverty, and a desperate attempt at keeping the family together. Told through the eyes of twelve-year-old Emily, this story spans two years of preparations, and traveling, and her point of view on traveling across Canada, and a dysfunctional family.

His other newest book, titled "Anthony", is about thirteen-year-old teen who lives with an abusive father. After discovering that his son is a bisexual, Anthony's father flies into a rage, and kicks him out on the streets. Anthony finds the strength to look out for himself, and create a group of new friends from the kids he meets at the homeless shelter. Set in gritty East side Vancouver, 'Anthony' is a novel about self-discovery, and learning that family isn't always blood.
