Janet Singer

Janet Singer is a mom whose son was so debilitated by severe obsessive-compulsive disorder that he couldn't even eat. Her family floundered and then fought their way through a disorienting maze of treatments and programs, desperately trying to find the best help possible for Dan. He went from seven therapists to ten medications to a nine week stay at a world renowned residential treatment program. Janet's frustration turned to terror as she worried he might never again function in society, or even worse, survive.

Since those dark days, Janet has become a tireless advocate for OCD awareness. She is a non-clinician blogger for MentalHelp.net and the creator of and past blogger for Beyond OCD’s blog, Connections. She is published regularly on PsychCentral and has also been published on the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and Mad In America web sites. Additionally she was an invited speaker and panelist at the 2011 and 2013 OCD Texas conferences, and is a frequent contributor and guest blogger on various mental health sites, blogs, and forums. Her own blog, www.ocdtalk.wordpress.com, receives over 15,000 hits monthly and has reached readers in 167 countries.
