Malcolm Roscow

Malcolm Roscow had a career spanning 38 years in the pulp and paper industry, which took him to 68 countries on 5 continents. He lived for seven years in the USA, where he and his family gained green card permanent resident status and his daughter, Laura, was born - making her an American citizen - and a year in the Bahamas. His career culminated in him running his own international business for ten years before selling it as a going concern and retiring to Florida.

He started writing after returning to Florida from the Bahamas in 1992 and he has been writing ever since. 219 rejection letters from literary agents prompted him to keep rewriting and improving his work rather than starting new books.

His debut novel, 'Another Boring Day in Paradise', which is set in the Bahamas and was inspired by real life events, was published on January 30, 2015. His publisher nominated the book for the People's Book Prize. His late wife, Eileen, suggested he write the book. Sadly, she did not live long enough to see it published.

His second novel, 'The Kiplock Affair', was published on February 28, 2017 and was nominated for the Royal Society of Literature's Encore Award for outstanding second novel.

Roscow's third novel, 'Harry', which is a tale of internet grooming, was published on May 31, 2018. A reader of the book commented that it should be required reading for teenagers, to show them what can happen when they use internet chat rooms. His publisher has submitted this novel for the University of Edinburgh's James Tait Black Prize for Fiction.

His fourth novel, 'Incident at a Crayfish Party', which is set partly in Finland, is currently undergoing publication. A fifth novel, 'Tycoon', which is set partly in Hong Kong, is finished and sitting on the back burner, as is 'Will You Tell Her, Or Shall I?', a memoir chronicling the protracted death of his wife from brain tumours. He already has a subject in mind for his next novel.

At the time of writing, December 28, 2018, his screenplay for 'Another Boring Day in Paradise' is out looking for an agent, and he is currently working on his third screenplay. His plan is to write screenplays for all five novels, all of which cross international boundaries.

Roscow lives with his partner, Hilary, in Poole, Dorset, where he spends his time keeping fit at the gym and writing novels.
