C.H. Venner

C.H. (Kees) Venner obtained MSc and PhD (1991) from the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands in the area of Triboogy on the development of optimally efficient solvers for the Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication problem. In this book the development of these algorithms is presented in a step by step approach, carefully taking the reader by the hand presenting at each step the relevant theory of numerical methods and multigrid methods. The book is used in teaching Multigrid methods in courses. The author has closely collaborated with prof. A. Brandt, of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel where he worked as a postdoc in the period (1991-1995). The solvers developed have found widespread application in science and in industry, in many countries. The solvers are still widely used today for practical problems.

The author has published many articles in the international literature on various aspects of Multigrid/Multiscale methods, and Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication. He is involved in experimental and theoretical research.

Recent developments have included 3D simulations of strongly heterogeneous (composite) materials using billions of points combined with the lubrication problems.

At present the author is full professor holding the chair Engineering Fluid Dynamics at the University of Twente, faculty of Engineering Technology. More information can be found at the linked in profile and research gate profile.
