L.G. Parkhurst writes the International Bible Lesson Commentary and the International Bible Lesson. For more than 25 years he has written the weekly Bible Lesson for "The Oklahoman" newspaper. He began compiling, editing, and writing books in 1979, shortly after meeting Francis and Edith Schaeffer in Rochester, Minnesota. After publishing books with Baker Book House, Bethany House Publishers, Tyndale House, and other publishers, he founded Agion Press in 2005 and began to publish his own books. Agion Press gives him the freedom to publish what he wants and when he wants, which he finds exceptionally fulfilling. After publishing with some major Christian publishing houses, he plans for Agion Press to publish almost exclusively in the future through CreateSpace and Kindle.
In addition to writing Bible commentaries and lessons, he published the first biography of Francis Schaeffer and compiled and edited Edith Schaeffer's book "The Art of Life." Through Agion Press, he expanded that first biography of the Schaeffers into a Kindle edition, "Francis and Edith Schaeffer: Expanded and Updated Edition." His second book about the Schaeffers taught some principles of prayer using their experiences and his experiences with them in a new Kindle edition: "How God Teaches Us to Pray: Lessons from the Lives of Francis and Edith Schaeffer."
Through the years, he has compiled, edited, and published collections and devotional books from the writings of John Bunyan, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Finney, Andrew Murray, Charles Spurgeon, and others.
