Sharon Black

Sharon Black is an Irish writer of warm, witty, romantic women’s fiction at Poolbeg Books.

A recovered journalist, she has published short stories in women’s magazines and placed in a number of competitions. She is a grateful member of the online writers' group Writers Ink and the Romantic Novelists' Association. A Curtis Brown Creative alumna, she was long-listed for the 2023 Retreat West ‘Opening Lines’ Competition.

When she’s not writing, she reads widely and is inspired by favourite authors like Marian Keyes, Catherine Alliot, Sophie Kinsella, Sophie Ranald, Beth O'Leary, Catherine Walsh, Emily Henry, Mhairi McFarlane and dozens of others who are too numerous to mention! She also walks (fair-weather only!), catches up with family and friends and drinks lots of coffee.

She is an active member of a long-running book club in her village - a small group of wonderful women who meet monthly to chat about books and share laughs over good food and wine. She loves theatre, old Hollywood films, romantic comedies and stand-up.

In recent years, she has become close friends with Google Maps, thanks to her appalling sense of direction. She is highly allergic to shopping. She lives by the Dublin coast with her husband and the youngest of her grown up family.
