Timothy Knight

Timothy Knight was born in Bessemer, Alabama, in 1967 and raised there and later along the Alabama Gulf Coast, where he now resides. A lifelong martial artist, he holds 5th-degree black belts in Japanese Jujutsu and Korean Hapkido, with additional training across multiple disciplines including Aikido, Judo, Tai Chi, and Taekwondo (all despite claiming a natural talent for tripping over his own feet).

He spent nearly 27 years in law enforcement, working patrol, investigations, and supervision, and serving as a defensive tactics, firearms, and use-of-force instructor. Somewhere along the way, he developed a reputation for doing things effectively, if not always conventionally.

After retiring in 2014, Tim turned to writing, channeling a career’s worth of experience, dark humor, and “you can’t make this stuff up” moments into his Files of the BPRC series, beginning with The Feral Breed. He served for another, more bucolic little town for an additional year, before fully embracing the retired life … and then going back to work in private security (because he just can’t sit still for a minute).

He now lives on the Alabama Gulf Coast, where he writes, teaches martial arts, tinkers with firearms, and does his best to keep up with his grandchildren and his ever more demanding bulldog mixes.
