Khalil Rahman Ali moved from Guyana to London, UK in 1970 and after qualifying in Financial Management, he served in Senior Management positions in the British National Health Service (NHS). His first historical fiction novel, Sugar's Sweet Allure, was published by Hansib Publications in London, May 2013. It is a story of the migration of Indian Indentured labourers to work on the British owned sugar plantations in British Guiana (now Guyana) in the 19th Century, after the end of African Slavery in 1834.
His second novel titled The Domino Masters of Demerara was published in 2015. His third historical fiction novel titled In Pursuit of Betterment was published in March, 2017, and covers five stories across the Indian Diaspora, including India, Guyana and the Caribbean, Mauritius, Uganda, and South Africa.
Khalil has a keen interest in the Environment, and the protection of the rainforests.This is the theme of his fourth novel titled, Daughter of the Great River published in 2020.
His latest novel titled Guyana on the rise is published in 2025, and features most of the characters of the Domino Masters of Demerara returning to Guyana to explore key events of its history, some of the exciting developments since 2020, and their perspectives on the future of the country and its peoples.
