Darrell Calkins has led seminars and retreats on human potential and development in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East for 40 years. His work focuses on comparative spirituality, philosophy and psychology with an emphasis on bridging perspectives across disciplines, cultures and traditions. His classes and seminars have covered a spectrum that ranges from communication skills for psychologists and priests to stress management for terminally ill children to humor and mysticism in Asian philosophies. An avid gardener and hiker, his interests include zoology and anthropology. The author of a collection of letters entitled "Re:" and numerous articles, "In the Midst of Things" is his second book.
