Mende Smith

Mende Smith is not an in-your-face kind of writer. Her prose and poems bring luster to lyrical and satire to soliloquy. Smith considers herself a west coast poet and the rain and the sunshine soaks into her work equally. Having summered and wintered the last 6 years in California, this writer submits work in area anthologies regularly. She is no longer living in Santa Monica 26 blocks from the shoreline, she has moved to Portland, the city of bridges, with Hemingway, her feline muse. Ghostwriting, grant research and volunteering for local Domestic Violence prevention organizations are keeping her busy. Her first chapbook HollywoodLand (©2012 Noble Swine Press) is currently out of print. Lummox Press picked up her second collection: Veritas Cabaret in 2013, and this title is also out of print. Nin and Kafka Drinking Absinthe appear in a 2013 Sybaritic Press Anthology.

In 2015, the adventure became prose! The emerging narrative series based on selected stories from the author's own life EMERALD CITY STORIES (2017) is also available exclusively for kindle on Amazon.
