Lisa Maggiore (1968-present) was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Italian (dad) and Swedish (mom) parents. She practiced social work in Chicago for twenty years, ending her career in 2011. She is the author of a children’s picture book series, Ava the Monster Slayer: A Warrior Who Wears Glasses, a fiction short story, Pinterest Saved My Marriage, and a fiction novel, Home from Within. Lisa also has published work in local anthologies. She currently resides in Chicago with her husband, is a mom to three adult children, and is a playful grandma to two boys. She is also a caregiver for her mom, who has dementia. Lisa loves to travel, watch Da Bears during the NFL season, and dance with childhood girlfriends.
