I was a theoretical physicist in condensed matter for 25 years. Then I underwent a phase change: helped set up a high school for very bright kids, set up a physics lab from scratch, and started inventing my own demonstrations. You can see over 50 of them in the 2002-2015 issues of the teaching journals of 'The Physics Teacher' and Physics Education'. Since 1993 I have been guiding year long in-depth experimental projects, to the great excitement and satisfaction of both students and me.All these years I have been guiding high school physics teachers through workshops and seminars, encouraging them to get involved in projects. The results are summarized in my book with John King.
I play first clarinet in an orchestra of wind instruments, enjoy wood carving and photography.
