Lis McDermott

Lis McDermott (b.1952) was born and raised in Leicester, UK. She now lives in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire with her husband. She trained as a musician and had a successful career working in music education for 34 years. During this time, she co-authored (as Lis Fletcher) along with Mary Edwards, Nelson Music which is a music scheme in three volumes for primary schools.

In 2008 she changed career, and set up her own photography business, which she ran until March 2020. During that time, she loved to photograph weddings, babies, families and business headshots and portfolios. Her main aim was to capture the essence of the event and personality of any person she was working with.

After becoming an author in her own right in 2014 when she wrote and published 'Headshot Diva', she has since had work published in other anthologies. She is particularly proud of her first attempt at fiction, when a short story she had written was successfully included, alongside other competition winners, in a short story anthology. In 2017 Lis published her own book of short stories, "Changing Lives: 8 short stories". She has also written, "Mixed Feelings", an autobiography, and poetry: books: "A Tilted View", "Lis' Little Book of Limericks", "Blossom Falls" and "A Multitude of Stars." In May 2022 she published her debut novel 'He is Not Worthy'. In 2024 she published two novels: "Echoes of Drowning" and "The identity Enigma". Her fourth novel Book 1 in The Beaconsbury Forest Series, "Honey" is available to pre-order on Kindle and will be out June 2025.

Alongside her writing, she mentors others' to write their books.
