Martin K. Scanlan

I am a professor in Educational Leadership at the Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College. From 2006 – 2013 I was a faculty member in the College of Education at Marquette University. Before joining higher education, I spent over a decade working in teaching and administration in urban elementary and middle schools in Washington, D.C., Berkeley, CA, and Madison, WI.

My scholarship focuses on how administrators and teachers learn to better serve traditionally marginalized students. My current work focuses on supporting communities of practice to provide inclusive service delivery to students with special needs and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. I've written several books, over 50 articles & book chapters. I have also edited several journals and am currently editor-in-chief of the Journal of Professional Capital and Community.
