Scott Douglas Vaughan of Lexington, SC, is a Cumming, Georgia native, where five generations of his family are buried.
More than 50 years ago, Scott began writing short stories in elementary school and reading them to his class. By junior high, he was writing periodically for his hometown newspaper and joined the staff in high school as a sportswriter. A journalism graduate from the University of Georgia (1981), Scott enjoyed a 17-year newspaper career that included writing awards from the Georgia and South Carolina press associations. He also graduated (2003) from Emory University's Executive Management Program with a certificate in Strategic Marketing.
Leaving the newspaper business in 1994, Scott began a faith-based and non-profit marketing and communications career. He is a national speaker, Bible teacher, and storyteller. Today, he is the director of community awareness for a nonprofit social service in Columbia, SC.
His first book, Brookwood Road, was published in 2014, fulfilling a 40-year promise to his dad.
Scott and his wife Vicki have been married for 38 years and have four grown sons, four beautiful daughters-in-law, and six very loved grandchildren. They also have a cat, Vivian.
