Anne Kaier

Anne Kaier has been a writer since childhood. Her newest book, How Can I Say It Was Not Enough?, won the Propel Poetry Award. Her poems have appeared in anthologies including the 2012 ALA Notable Book Beauty is a Verb. Her memoir, They Said I Couldn't Have a Love Life, was a Finalist for the AWP's Creative Nonfiction Prize in 2024. Her essays appeared in About Us: Essays from the Disability Series of The New York Times for which she appeared on NPR's Radio Times. "Maple Lane" was mentioned on the list of notables in an edition of Best American Essays. With an MA from the University of Oxford and a Ph.D. from Harvard, she taught literature and writing for many years in Philadelphia-area colleges. She lives in Philly with a feisty black cat called Horace.
