Robert Kingsley

Ever since his school years, Robert has been fascinated by the influence of aviation on world affairs, especially during WW2 in the far East. He has combined this life-long interest with local, on-site knowledge - gathered during his travels around the globe as an internationally active ICT consultant - to write "The Java Gold,, a multi-part historical fiction saga that will take the reader all over the world and through half a century of recent history. Robert is currently working on two more volumes in this series.

In 2016, Robert joined forces with seven other talented authors to produce "Pearl Harbor and more..." an anthology revolving around the central theme of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and the start of the Pacific War. Robert's contribution – "A Rude Awakening" – is set in Imperial Singapore and Malaya and takes the reader through those fateful first days of this sudden and largely unexpected conflict. The anthology was published on November 1, 2016. It has been praised in reviews and has gotten many very favorable comments.

Robert's story, "A Rude Awakening was the basis for the writing of "South, to Safety".

This is a major historical fiction novel published in 2021, which describes the fall of Singapore and the first, dramatic months of the Pacific war. A small group of totally unrelated people - an American newsman, an Australian truck driver, a Dutch, RAF-trained pilot, a British secretary, and a young British pilot - try to avoid capture and imprisonment by the rapidly advancing Japanese. The story follows them as they try to escape from beleaguered Singapore to Australia, taking the reader from the early days of the war in Malaya and Singapore, via the war-torn Netherlands East Indies, to Australia.

Robert lives and works in the magical city of Amsterdam, but spends a lot of time in the Canadian northeast.
