Karen A. Mace

Karen Mace spent her early years on the wild west coast of Tasmania and later moved to the south of the island. After completing nursing training in 1979, she married and later she and her family moved to Ecuador, South America via San Jose, Costa Rica. Karen worked in health, radio and hospitality while in Ecuador and wrote for the Healthcare Magazine, Amigos, as well as being editor and writer for a community development publication. While in Ecuador, two of Karen's daughters died in a tragic accident and this led to her first book, Healing Begins in the Heart. After returning to Australia in 1996, Karen completed academic degrees in nursing, teaching and counselling, and psychology. Recently, Karen closed her counseling practice to concentrate on writing full time. Her second book, A Grief Revealed, was published in September 2021, and the memoir, Looking Back Moving Forward, a revised version of Healing Begins in the Heart, was published in November 2022. Since December 2021, Karen and her husband have enjoyed getting used to time away in their caravan—a whole new experience for Karen!
