Donna Borrelli Long

Donna Borrelli Long, MS, CCC-SLP, retired in 2008 from the Martin County School District, Stuart, Florida, after twenty-five years as an elementary teacher and Speech Language Pathologist. During her career, she taught pre-school, kindergarten and third grade. She delighted in her students, teaching all subjects while developing their language arts proficiencies as they wrote and illustrated stories in class, created anthologies focusing on environmental awareness, and recited poems and sang during performances for parents and the rest of the school. Upon earning an MS in Communication Disorders degree at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, she began working as a school based Speech Language Pathologist, providing speech and language therapy for students in all grade levels who were struggling with communication and language arts skills. After retiring from the school district, Donna began a new career in various nursing and rehabilitation centers, helping adults who suffered from diseases, illness, accidents, strokes, or dementia, consequently requiring speech and language therapy; an often sad, but always rewarding employment. Currently, Donna is enjoying writing essays, poems, song parodies, and books. Her nonfiction book, From Philadelphia To The Battle Of The Bulge is a poignant compilation of family members’ wartime letters; missives that enrich the understanding of the personal struggles during World War II. Donna has also written children's books: As I See…By The Sea, The Pig Said Woof! and Can You Hear The Rainforest Sing? Donna's poem entitled What Is Alzheimer's Disease? was included in the poetry anthology book, Beyond The Sea...Solace, published in 2015. Future projects include a book of essays about her dog, Sumo, and another children's book, The Cow Said Meow!
