Fiona Crotty-Smith

Fiona Crotty-Smith was born in Newcastle, Australia, in 1968. Fiona became a Registered Nurse in 1991 after completing a Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) course at the University of Newcastle, N.S.W. She continues to work in this field.

Fiona took 12 months off in 1994 to see and explore the world. During this period, she worked as a Carer for the aged.

Fiona did a bit more travelling overseas in 1997. Then, on her return to Australia, she adopted a dog called Monty from a local shelter. Monty was a Bull Terrier cross and he was her beloved and loyal companion until his death in 2007. Monty was the inspiration to write the book 'Monty the Pound Pup.'

In addition, Ellen DeGeneres' love of animals was the inspiration to complete and have this book published. Fiona has been a fan of Ellen DeGeneres for many years and was inspired by Ellen for being an advocate for rescue dogs.

Fiona has also adopted another dog from a shelter, a Labrador cross, who is currently 15 years of age. (Now passed away).

Fiona has become an advocate for pound pups and dogs and has since fostered a Greyhound (now adopted by Fiona and her husband). Fiona hopes to continue to save more dogs.
