Mark Whitten

Mark T. Whitten has authored several books including his latest release, Why Mary Matters: Understanding the Place of Christ’s Mother in Christianity (Revised and Expanded Edition). He and his wife Julie live in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Together, they have six children.

Early in his ministry, Mark traveled to six different continents as a trans-local missionary, training indigenous leaders in discipleship and church-planting. He spent time in southeast Asia working with the underground church and various mobilization ministries in that region. In the United States, Mark was fortunate to be a part of three very significant church-planting endeavors: Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama, Harbour Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and St. Anna’s Orthodox Church in Columbia, Tennessee, each unique in their calling, expression, and influence.

Mark is a licensed minister and an ordained priest in the Anglican Tradition. He sees himself as a bridge builder between the ancient and evangelical expressions of the faith and embraces the converging streams of Christianity: Scripture, Spirit, Sacrament and Service.

Mark has also spent time as an educator, project manager and business owner. He enjoys strong coffee, good books, and light beer (with lime).
