Michael Ervolini is a highly regarded writer and thought leader on the topics of fund management, behavioral finance, and decision making. Mike is the author of two books: “Skill Versus Luck – Taking The Guesswork Out Of Equity Fund Selection,” MIT Press, February 2026 and “Managing Equity Portfolios – A Behavioral Approach To Improving Skills And Investment Processes,” MIT Press, 2014. He has also written several chapters for investment handbooks, edited by Frank Fabozzi.

He has been interviewed by a wide range of financial news outlets including: The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Barrons, Bloomberg News, Institutional Investor, Pensions & Investments (US), Investments & Pensions Europe, CIO Magazine, CFA Magazine, and Market Watch. Mike has over 40 years of experience in analytic software development and asset management. Mike co-founded and was CEO of two fin-tech companies: Cabot Investment Technologies, purchased by FactSet Research Systems, Inc. in 2021; and Charter Research Corporation LLC, purchased by Standard &Poor’s in 2003.
Earlier in his career, Mike served in a variety of asset management roles at AEW Capital Management, Inc. and a division of Legg Mason, Inc.
Mike earned an M. S. from The University of Pennsylvania and a B. A. from Rutgers University.
